The Venus Mission, a Memphis party band that frequently plays central Arkansas clubs, will inaugurate this year’s weekly Friday series of the Peabody River Top Parties from 8 p.m. to midnight today. Saving Jane will open the show, which will be held on the Peabody Little Rock’s upper terrace, overlooking the Arkansas River.

The Venus Mission is due to release its first album this summer. Opening act Saving Jane from Columbus, Ohio, is led by recent college student Marti Dodson from Ohio State University. The group released a debut CD, Girl Next Door, on Toucan Cove Records, and the CD is due to be re-released soon by Universal Records.
